People still shoot on black and white film. Sometimes it was a conscious decision to shoot on black and white film BECAUSE of its aesthetic. The absolute most pointless is colorizing black and white photos that were shot in decades where color film had become widely available and affordable to consumers. What does it add seeing a photo of someone (or something) in colors based on guesswork? As I said before, they always have been clearly colorized. So it's not like you are getting an accurate portrayal of what this would have looked like if it were shot on color film. For one thing, the actual colors of what is being represented in the photos is usually complete guesswork. Aside form the fact that they are always clearly colorized, I genuinely don't get the point. Now it's become a popular trend to do this with photos, and it infuriates me every time I see one posted on Reddit receiving so much praise. Colorizing films was a passing trend that never really had much mainstream success, even though it is still occasionally done today. Thankfully, his announcement was met with nearly universal disapproval from the film community. In the 1980s Ted Turner announced that he was going to start colorizing old black and white films.
